The Bad Feelings Rainbow for Orchestra (2012-revised 2018)

The Bad Feelings Rainbow is a stylistic leap for me, both in form and rhythmic complexity. At the time of its inception, I was re-absorbing a lot of Igor Stravinsky’s music, in particular his late neo-classical and serial works, Orpheus and Agon. His language of compositional distortion has always inspired me. As such, The Bad Feelings Rainbow is my humble homage to that aura of joyful subversion and distortion that i’ve always felt in Stravinsky’s music.

Premiered by the BBC Concert Orchestra on April 18th 2018 at Queen Elizabeth Hall, under the conduction of Andre de Ridder
